Hello and welcome.
My name’s Lily, I’m a Chinese medical practitioner with more than 30 years of medical experience and I’ve been working in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, for the last 17 years.
I love my job so much, because I feel so grateful that I am able to help my patients improve their health and quality of life. Over the years, many of my patients bring their families and friends to see me and some of my patients have become my friends.
What makes people choose Chinese medicine?
Chinese medicine has at least 3000 years of history. It is the oldest medical system in the world and has been gaining more recognition across the globe over the last century. In more and more western countries, medical scientists try to study Chinese medicine to find out why it work so well. The WHO’s governing body, the World Health Assembly, adopts the 11th version of the organization’s global compendium — known as the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD). For the first time, the ICD will include details about traditional Chinese medicines.
The global reach of the reference source is unparalleled. The document categorizes thousands of diseases and diagnoses and sets the medical agenda in more than 100 countries.
Why has Chinese medicine survived this long and gained popularity?
Well, the answer is it’s very effective!
There are lots of problems that western medicine hasn’t found a way to treat, such as ME, Male infertility, and IBS. In some cases (such as Fibromyalgia, diabetes etc), western medicine can only treat symptoms and not a problem’s root cause. As such, patients may be required to take synthetic medicines for life as their illness worsens. Some problems are not recognized by western medicine and therefore there is no treatment for them, such as unknown reasons for infertility, over cold even in summer or persistent sweating even at night etc. Some patients can’t tolerate western medicines because of side effects.
Why Chinese medicine can achieve such good results?
Because Chinese medicine Philosophy is unique.
Chinese medicine believes that good health is the body’s natural state. The body’s YIN YANG balance and Qi (meaning energy flow or life force) needs to be sufficient and free moving.
You can compare the human body to a car: the engine is the heart, the gear box is the liver… however cars need petrol to run. Our bodies are the same, every organ needs energy Qi to keep them working.
Yin and Yang are two opposing, complementary natural forces, Yin is like night, dark, cold, damp, quiet, below, water, growth, earth and passive, on the other hand, yang like the day, bright, heat, dryness ,fire, above, generation, heaven, active. Going back to our car, it has four wheels, which must be balanced for it to run smoothly. If a tyre is flat, then the car will lose balance and an accident may happen. Therefore, when our body’s yin and yang are unbalanced, you will fall ill.
Chinese medicine tries to balance your yin and yang, and strengthen the body’s energy Qi, make sure your energy flows without obstruction. This is why Chinese medicine can recognize and can effectively treat so many problems, with very few side effects: It follows the body’s natural state.
